24,995 1983 Jeep CJ7
  • suv 1,256 red manual
A big winch up front suggests go-anywhere capabilities and black rubber fender flares are probably mandatory with those giant meats. The vivid red paint seems right for a vehicle that's built purely for fun and given that it prefers to get dirty, it actually looks terrific. This CJ7 is very clean and straight, having been freshened a few years ago and given the right upgrades to make it fun to drive and great to look at Bucket Seats✔ AM/FM✔ Air Conditioning✔ Aluminum Wheels

Finding an all-steel CJ that hasn't been bashed to death on the rocks, modified beyond recognition, or eaten alive by the tinworm is no easy task, yet this handsome black Jeep shows off its original bodywork with pride. Sure, it's probably gone to a few remote places, but nobody has abused this Jeep, and the extra details throughout indicate that someone truly loved it. The paint has a great shine that will be easy to clean and wears high-visibility "RENEGADE" graphics that work really well on the black bodywork AM/FM

15,995 1976 Jeep CJ7
  • suv 2,575 manual
It's a few years old and this is a Jeep, after all, so it's not perfect, but for a vehicle ostensibly designed to chase through the mud, it's pretty darned nice. The rockers and rear corners of the body have been appropriately reinforced with black diamond plate, giving the Jeep a tough look that's also highly functional. The burgundy paint is a lot nicer than what it was wearing originally, and the rich metallic finish looks great on the upright Jeep bodywork

19,995 1984 Jeep CJ7
  • suv 141,625 gasoline blue manual
The undisputed king of go-anywhere survivability has to be the Jeep CJ7, and with collectors discovering that these are seriously fun machines, Jeeps like this 1984 CJ7 won't be this affordable for too much longer. The Renegade was the top-of-the-line CJ, a package that gave the utilitarian Jeep a look-at-me makeover that's probably the off-road equivalent of the Trans Am screaming chicken hood decal. With a variety of off-road-ready upgrades, this one looks as rough and rugged as John Wayne in a gun belt Bucket Seats✔ Alloy Wheels

The appeal of going anywhere, any time is the whole reason civilian jeeps exist. As we've seen over the past few years, the cj7 is at the top of the food chain when it comes to jeep off-roading. Unfortunately, their rugged off-road abilities are the reason why so few good ones are left: they simply got used up. It's still pretty basic and keeps all the great original attitude that makes these so much fun and hasn't been upgraded, over-dressed, or modified so heavily that its originality is erased. Instead, they gave it a vivid paint job that definitely gets noticed and left off the stuff that doesn't help it work better in the dirt. That means simple black bumpers with chrome tow hooks, low-key side steps, diamond-plate reinforcements on the corners, and rubber fender flares over the oversized tires. The all-business interior is highlighted by a pair of new black and yellow bucket seats that are a lot more supportive for off-road maneuvers than the original chairs and there's still a matching back seat. The floors have been covered in black carpets, giving this jeep a civilized feel and the skinny amc steering wheel is easy to hold on to during the rough stuff. The original gauges are framed by a simple black painted panel and a later am/fm/cassette stereo lives in the middle of the dash, although it's overdue for an upgrade. The engine of choice for most jeep fans is the indestructible 258 cubic inch inline-6. Power steering is a nice feature in something with tires this big, and the 4-speed manual transmission has well-chosen gears for any occasion. The transfer case, axles, and suspension are trail-ready, again with many new parts visible underneath, including a modest lift. Shiny chrome wheels look great against the yellow paint, especially with those big 33x12. 50-15 off-road radials. So for reasonably-priced off-road fun, this cj7 delivers in a lot of big ways. Fun, reliable, comfortable, and still very capable, it has all the virtues of the best 4x4s without the big price tag. Bucket Seats✔ AM/FM✔ Chrome Wheels

Nicely restored with a lot of new components, this is a trail-ready 4x4 with a lot to offer, including a very reasonable price. The burgundy paint is a lot nicer than what it was wearing originally, and the rich metallic finish looks great on the upright jeep bodywork. The side steps were also added in 2014, so it's easier to climb aboard and a set of high-output kc lights were added up front. Few jeeps are this nicely equipped, this well-finished, and this thoughtfully built. The floors are covered with heavy duty rubber mats and the back seat looks like it might be original, or at least wearing an older seat cover. There's more black diamond plate on the dash, with updated knobs and handles, a correct speedometer with built in temperature and fuel gauges, and a pair of auxiliary gauges for voltage and oil pressure. Overhead there's a robust 6-point roll cage as well as a new soft top and doors that were installed just last year. Jeep's rugged and reliable 258 cubic inch inline-6 is the engine most cjs use and it's a great choice. Torquey and willing to just crawl along at little more than idle speed, it was built for situations just like this. It's mostly original and runs great, thanks to a rebuilt carburetor and new ignition components. It's not pretty and showy, but it's highly functional and doesn't' need any excuses. This jeep is equipped with both power steering and power brakes, which are welcome on a vehicle with oversized tires, and a custom tubular header feeds the exahust. A 4-speed manual transmission feeds a 2-speed transfer case, while the axles are filled with 3. 54/3. 55 gears so it's an easy highway cruiser. There are newer shocks underneath, a recent front driveshaft, and custom wheels with 32x11. 50-15 bfgoodrich mud terrain t/a radials that were installed in 2014. The jeep always looks like it's ready for an adventure and this one has a lot of money recently invested in keeping that spirit alive. These machines still represent a ton of fun for the money.

The undisputed king of go-anywhere survivability has to be the jeep cj7, and with collectors discovering that these are seriously fun machines, jeeps like this 1984 cj7 won't be this affordable for too much longer. We're already seeing it here, where it's getting harder and harder to keep good jeeps in stock. The renegade was the top-of-the-line cj, a package that gave the utilitarian jeep a look-at-me makeover that's probably the off-road equivalent of the trans am screaming chicken hood decal. With a variety of off-road-ready upgrades, this one looks as rough and rugged as john wayne in a gun belt. Goodies include a chrome front bumper, new fender flares, and color-matched tubular steps for climbing aboard. This one sticks to the original setup, but the condition of the floors and dashboard suggest that this jeep has led a good life and hasn't been abused or neglected. High-back bucket seats are still comfortable enough for bouncing around off-road, and the floor has been protected with cool plastic liner, a smart upgrade and probably one that makes a lot of sense in a vehicle designed to play in the mud. The back seat is neatly finished in matching black vinyl and the padding on the roll bar is neatly fitted, so it's clean and orderly. The 4-speed manual feeds the stock 2-speed transfer case and seriously beefy axles at both ends, with the front end being fitted with locking hubs. Tall gears and low range give it rock-crawling stability, but thanks to the oversized tires, it can cruise relatively easily at highway speeds in high range. The suspension also features stock springs and ride height, so it's has exactly the right attitude and functionality without being tall and tippy on the streets. Attractive 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels look flashy and wear giant 33x12. 50x15 off-road tires. With chiseled good looks and plenty of performance, this awesome cj is a lot of fun, both on and off road. Bucket Seats✔ Alloy Wheels
