1969 dodge coronet - fort worth, txstreetside classicsfort worth, tx 76137ph: 8558772707web: www. With a smooth running small block, a hemi orange paint job that just screams performance, and enough room for the whole family, this bargain-priced piece of muscle is worth a second look. This slick 4-door does a great job of disguising its daily-driver roots; with the door handles shaved, a lot of people probably won't even notice the extra two doors! That's purely intentional here, where they took a plain-jane sedan and gave it a thorough makeover that turned it into a car that earns more of its share of double-takes. Finish quality is extremely good, particularly for a car in this price range, and aside from a few signs of use, it looks quite fresh indeed. To help with the illusion, most of the emblems were shaved, as were the side marker lights, and with a blacked-out grille, it seems to earn its seat at the muscle car round table. From the back, it looks very much like its brother, the charger, and the big chrome bumpers are in excellent condition, adding a bit of sparkle that really works. The interior got a muscle car makeover, too, complements of a pair of high-back bucket seats that appear to be from another chrysler product. There are matching gray cloth inserts on the door panels and back seat, so it wasn't a halfway-done conversion and from behind the wheel, this car looks and feels like one of its more sporting 2-door siblings. The original steering wheel is pretty tired, so look into replacing that to help with the illusion, but everything else can stay, including the instrument panel, which is identical to other b-body performance machines. The back seat is notably massive and makes for comfortable seating for real-sized adults, something that can't be said for the 2-door models. The 318 small block has about 6500 miles on the rebuild and runs every bit as smoothly as it should. Upgraded with a holley 4-barrel carburetor and edelbrock intake manifold, some chrome valve covers, plus long-tube headers, it's definitely got the juice. The massive engine bay leaves plenty of room for service access and they kept it pretty much the way the factory would have done it, including the alternator, radiator, and torqueflite 3-speed automatic tra. The front suspension was just rebuilt, so it tracks straight and handles reasonably well for a vintage sedan and a pair of glasspack-style mufflers gives it an awesome rumble at any speed. It's super clean underneath, which is always a relief, and it sits right on those flashy aluminum mb motorsports wheels and giant 245/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear performance radials. Affordable fun is always in style, and when it pays tribute to some of the greatest cars of the era, it's a slam-dunk. Bucket Seats

Sporting its matching-numbers 440 cubic inch v8, ice cold a/c, and an awesome mopar look, it gets everything right. Dodge never gave this awesome shade of blue an exciting name, but b5 blue is indeed this coronet's real color. It's also a real r/t, and the hardware it packs puts it near the top of the pecking order when it comes to fast vintage muscle. In the finest mopar tradition, it's both purposeful and entertaining to look at, from the subtly sculpted bodywork (laser straight) to the domed hood that suggests serious blasting powder underneath, to the white bumblebee stripe around the tail, there's just nothing else like it on the road. It comes by the r/t emblems honestly, as it's a legitimate r/t model, and the finish work is beyond anything they were building at chrysler corporation in the '60s. Buckets and a console are a welcome sight in anything wearing the "r/t" insignia and the interior is as nicely finished as the bodywork. Correct reproduction seat covers fit extremely well and have the government-mandated headrests that were standard equipment in 1969. New carpets, door panels, and a fresh dash pad all keep it looking showroom fresh and the wood appliques on the dash, console, and door panels have been replaced. Factory gauges include a somewhat rare factory tachometer and the original music master am radio is still in the center of the dash, although an upgrade would make this the ideal cruiser. Someone has installed an aftermarket a/c system, but the vents are so discreetly placed that most purists won't notice and it makes a big difference in cruising comfort on warm days. Embossed rubber floor mats give it a heavy-duty look and the trunk is correctly finished with a full-sized spare and a plaid mat. That's the original, numbers-matching 440 cubic inch v8 living under the hood, and during the restoration it was rebuilt to stock specs inside. Externally, it looks oem, but there's a holley carburetor living under the factory air cleaner and an upgraded intake manifold hides in plain sight. Other details like the wiring, ignition system, and even the red-cap battery contribute to a factory-correct presentation that's worthy of its pedigree. Power steering and power front disc brakes are very welcome on this heavy cruiser, and the stock-style exhaust system runs flowmaster mufflers for a bit more attitude. A torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission channels power aft to a dana 60 rear end with 4. 10 gears and a sure grip inside, suggesting that this coronet was built for combat. Industrial-strength painted steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps are the perfect rolling stock, and they're now wrapped with oversized 215/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear bfgoodrich t/a radials. Given that level of authenticity and the quality of the restoration, the price sure looks like a bargain to us. Tachometer✔ Air Conditioning

Discovering a clean, straight, and stealthy high-performance Mopar is akin to a needle in a haystack, and as a result this one enjoyed a fairly comprehensive restoration just a few years ago. With a screaming supercharged 383 under the hood and a 5-speed transmission, this one also happens to live up to the reputation in a very big way. The body shell was restored to a very high standard, and the fit and finish are beyond anything Chrysler could have managed in 1969 AM/FM✔ Cloth Interior✔ CD Player

Everyone was building muscle cars in 1969, but chrysler elevated their game to an entirely different level with cars like this 1969 dodge super bee. This is a car for the guy with vision. It's not a show car and it does need some tlc, but it's got a great pedigree with matching-numbers and a lot of originality. It has probably been painted at some point, but it has plenty of patina that could pass for originality, and there's an argument to be made for keeping it just the way it is. Add a set of correct bumble bee stripes around the tail and almost everyone will recognize this as something special on the street. The super bee was a bit more upscale than the road runner, with its shiny chrome bee emblems and on this car, the details like the bumpers, grille, and black vinyl top are in good shape. The interior is equipped with a set of comfortable buckets that have a very authentic look. Headrests appeared in 1969 and chrysler did them better than the others, so they look like they were always part of the design. These chairs are actually quite comfortable and supportive, and with the console and automatic transmission shifter between them, there's no question about this car's street cred. A full array of gauges look to be in excellent shape and the three-spoke steering wheel with horn ring nails the 1960s look. There's a tic-tock-tach in the dash and a factory am/fm radio high in the center, so they resisted the urge to upgrade everything, which is smart on a car with such a strong pedigree. The matching-numbers 383 cubic inch v8 runs great thanks to a lot of detailing and a few simple upgrades. The giant air cleaner feeds a big 4-barrel carburetor and there's a new distributor up front to light it up. I like the way hemi orange engine paint looks against the gold engine bay and they stuck with a stock look that's very appealing, including the exhaust manifolds and little things like the hose clamps. Those manifolds feed a recent flowmaster dual exhaust. AM/FM

This 1969 dodge super bee is one of those cars that just looks mean sitting still. With a screaming supercharged 383 under the hood and a 5-speed transmission, this one also happens to live up to the reputation in a very big way. Discovering a clean, straight, and stealthy high-performance mopar is akin to a needle in a haystack, and as a result this one enjoyed a fairly comprehensive restoration just a few years ago. The body shell was restored to a very high standard, and the fit and finish are beyond anything chrysler could have managed in 1969. Panel gaps are quite good, the doors close effortlessly, and the sheetmetal looks like it just popped out of the presses moments before the paint was sprayed. Super bee graphics were added on the tail, and the hood carries proper scoops just for effect. Nice chrome bumpers and a bit of stainless trim help with the presentation, and there's just no angle from which this car doesn't look great. While they were built to be budget brawlers, this super bee keeps it all business with a handsome black interior that was probably freshened when the paint was done a few years ago. High-back buckets are a great addition, making it more comfortable and better able to take advantage of the horsepower now living under the hood. A tilt steering column with a custom banjo wheel also helps in the comfort department and there's a pistol-grip shifter with a hurst linkage growing out of the transmission tunnel, now attached to a modern 5-speed with overdrive. Accessory gauges under the dash are a good idea with that much engine up front and a modern am/fm/cd/ipod stereo system has been added as well. The trunk is functional, thanks to a full-sized mat and spare tire, along with a fuel cell and relocated battery. The engine is a built 383 cubic inch v8, which came out of the factory rated at 335 horsepower. Workmanship throughout is race-grade, with billet aluminum and braided stainless hardware to support the big blower. AM/FM✔ Cloth Interior✔ CD Player
