Designed as a test bed for new technology, the Plymouth Prowler was a also a great exercise in corporate dream-making. Finished in Prowler Yellow, this car is all about being the center of attention. Prowler sticker prices took a big jump between 1999 and 2000, suggesting that the car probably cost more than they were asking to build, and as an experiment in aluminum technology, Chrysler didn't seem to mind. Like most Prowlers, this one has led an extremely sheltered existence with just 2976 miles on the clock, and if it's like its siblings, it's probably never even seen a raindrop. Fit and finish are very, very good thanks to the Prowler's virtually hand-built nature, and if there are blemishes on this car, they're almost imperceptible at a glance. The front bumpers have been removed for a cleaner, sleeker look, while the rear bumpers have been painted to match the bodywork so they blend in a little better. There are also carbon fiber mud flaps and chrome A-arm covers, so it has a genuine hot-rod look. The Prowler scored big points with its comfortable, feature-laden interior that still captured the feel of an old hi-boy roadster. Deeply sculpted agate leather bucket seats are fitted with integral seat belts and roll hoops for a very trick look, as well as a Prowler logo embossed on the seat backs. Hot-rod features include the steering-column-mounted tachometer and central gauge panel that is painted to match the exterior bodywork. Other goodies include powerful air conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control, and Chrysler's fun Auto-Stick 4-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting. Everything works and it runs and drives like a real car, something that many home-built hot rods can't claim. There's also effective weather protection with a black canvas convertible top that looks like new and weather seals that were designed to withstand real-world conditions, something no home-built hot rod ever worries about. The only engine available was a 3.5 liter 24-valve V6, but thanks to refinements in 1999, performance is quite respectable. It has a wonderful growl from the Borla exhaust system and the years have proven that the powertrain is quite reliable and parts are still readily available.

Ford only built the shelby gt in 2007 and 2008, and 2008 is the only year convertibles were available. Ford dealers had the option of sending their shelby gt to the factory for a supercharger upgrade, creating the gt/sc, and shelby records suggest about 100 cars were upgraded. This car was returned to shelby automobiles inc. In las vegas in 2010 for the supercharger upgrade, and while it was there, it also received a ford racing 4. 6l hot rod engine, heavy-duty clutch, and a number of other upgrades, all of which are documented by shelby automobiles and essentially making this a one-of-one shelby gt/sc convertible. It also has gray stripes and a modest body kit from shelby that make the shelby gt look unique, and with just 12,281 original miles, it remains in outstanding condition. With goodies like upgraded factory a/c, a fat torque curve, and a slick bucket seat interior, this one just won't last long. The skylark's proportions give it a perfect muscle car stance and additions like the cool scooped hood with functional ram air means the buick engineers weren't messing around when they dropped the big 400-inch v8 between the fenders. Finish quality is very good, the paint shines up nicely and looks appropriate for this grown-up hot rod. On these cars in particular it's critical to get panel alignment just right, and they obvious spent the time to make the big doors fit well. The chrome bumpers were refinished, the stainless looks like it's been recently buffed, and all the correct gs badges are in place, and in this car's case they're legit, not just slapped on because someone likes how they look. Gm's a-body interiors are some of the best of the era, and buick's position as an upmarket offering means that detailing is exceptional. There's a standard skylark instrument panel which covers only the basics, but auxiliary gauges have been fitted under the dash to monitor oil pressure and temperature. The upholstery and carpets were replaced during the restoration, so it looks quite fresh inside including a new retrosounds am/fm/mp3 radio in the dash as well as factory a/c which has been upgraded to r134a. Buick-logo floor mats protect those fresh carpets and it appears that the seat belts have been restored. There's even a fresh reproduction mat in the trunk, along with a full-sized spare and a power antenna (this is a buick, after all). Buick's mighty 400 cubic inch v8 made toque its calling card, and this period correct powerplant will light up the rear tires at will. With a correct air cleaner assembly, dante red paint on the engine, and reproduction decals, it looks remarkably fresh given that it's been driven and enjoyed a bit. It starts with that characteristic buick baritone burble from the twin exhaust pipes, which use flowmasters to control the sound. A th400 3-speed automatic transmission is the only one strong enough to handle the big buick and it spins a sturdy 10-bolt rear. Front and rear sway bars give it nimble handling without upsetting the great buick ride. And flashy buick road wheels look sporty, especially with fat 225/70/14 bfgoodrich white-letter tires.
